Jake Paul raises fears ahead of Tyron Woodley rematch with admission | Boxing | Sport

Jake Paul has made a harrowing admission about the effect boxing has had on his brain, despite his professional career being just four fights old. Paul, 24 will fight again in Florida this Saturday in a rematch with former UFC star Tyron Woodley.

Paul’s comments are likely to lead to scrutiny over his desire to keep competing in the sport, especially given he also admitted to using psychedelic drugs such as DMT to battle the symptoms of CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy) – namely memory loss and slurred speech.

“You’re doing something that is detrimental to your long term health,” he continued.

“I notice it in conversations with my girlfriends or friends, not remembering something that I should be able to remember that happened a couple days ago. Sometimes in my speech, there’s like every 100th or 200th word I’ll mess up or like slur, which I didn’t do that before.

“I’ve talked to tons and tons of people about it and there’s new research and science to combat against it, things like psychedelics and toad.”
